What is an Abscess

A dental abscess is a pocket of pus that forms due to a bacterial infection. The abscess can occur at the tip of the root of a tooth or it can occur on the side of the gum by the tooth root. The causes of dental abscess include untreated cavities, injury or dental work that fails. The treatment includes draining the abscess and getting rid of the infection.
