Nancy Wong, DMD
Dr. Nancy Wong was born and raised in New York City. A daughter of immigrants, she was taught from a very early age the importance of education and hard work. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry at Hunter College and moved to Connecticut where she earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine and Masters of Public Health at the University of Connecticut. She later completed her General Practice Residency at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT, serving as chief resident her final year. Prior to practicing in West Hartford, Dr. Wong provided dental care to underserved patients in Torrington, CT. She currently lives in Wolcott, CT with her husband Vitmar and their dog Charlie Bear.
Growing up, Dr. Wong did not have routine dental care and did not realize the importance of oral health until she had to have her first root canal. As a result of her childhood experiences, Dr. Wong believes that the best thing that she can do for her patients is to educate them on how to take care of their mouths. She says, “If patients do not understand why something is happening in their mouth, they will not know how to prevent it from happening in the future.” She strives to make each patient experience as fun and educational as possible.
Dr. Wong values continuing education and constantly seeks to improve her craft. She
is a member of the American Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. During her free time, she likes to be active outdoors. She enjoys gardening, hiking, and biking. She also enjoys learning new languages and is fluent in Cantonese and proficient in Mandarin and dental Spanish. Her current goal is to learn Albanian so that she can communicate with her in-laws in their native language.
